Previous | Home | NextThis is near the top of the hill. The hill itself overlooks the village of Rožná. Lepidolite was originally taken most probably from this formation at Rožná, Moravia. Lepidolite was first described and named by Klaproth in 1792. Interestingly, Klaproth missed the presence of lithium in the mineral, which was not discovered until 25 years later. Lepidolite has the typical formula KLi2AlSi4O10F2, with substitution of potassium by rubidium approaching 4% in extreme cases.
